What a nice topic you have provoked! Sure I will not miss it! Well, as many other people have done,I have begun to learn English since I was a junior middle school student.Somehow I have been quick to learn new things and my memory quite good! As soon as I began to touch English, I found it's interesting and I liked learning it very much.My first English teacher was only a high school grad whose pronunciation wasn't so accurate, but as we know, those days English teachers were in very shortage, we couldn't expect more if we could have got an English teacher for us to follow. Though her English wasn't wonderful as many teahcers of nowadays, she was enterprising enough, and did all her best to teach us as much as she could.I must say her skills in teaching was lively, that's why many of my classmates would look forward to her lessons. So far I feel lucky to have ever been taught by such a teacher, sorry, it's been 10 years since I was graduated from my junior middle school, during such a long time, I just met her one or two times, hope everthing ok with her. Personally speaking, I admit that she has influenced my enthusiasm in learning English, during those days, I could feel that she's strict with me as wel as kind to me, I remember one time it's her turn to give lesson, but I was late due to some special reason, before I could enter into classroom, she stopped me and let me stand outside the classroom. She let me in till she has begun her lesson a quarter or so, when class over she asked me why I was late and told me be punctual next time. When she's talking to me she found my bang was very long which was nearly warding my line of sight, she asked why not have it cut a bit shorter. Time went by quickly, soon we were facing with the examination of entering senior middle school, though I have ever been good at English, I didn't gain a good mark that time, sorry, it's much lower than I as well as my English teacher have imagined. I felt bad after I have known the result. No matter what ever happened, I must go on studying, in the autumn of that year I began my senior middle school life. Though I have lost in my English exam, it didn't affect my positivity in learning English at all. This time I met a qualified male Enlgish teacher, but I am sorry he's not as vivid as my first English teacher, moreoever the courses were far different from what we have learned when we were junior middle school students. Though he's qualified, he couldn't really play his talent as possible as he could, somehow I didn't like the way he's giving lessons to us, sometimes I even conflicted with him, sorry, but I just conflicted him in daystart's reading, I never made troulbe when we were having lessons.I can imagine how he felt angry but complained nothing! What a persisting girl I have ever been!( Here, PLS allow me to make an apology to him , sorry, teacher Lau, I wasn't in purpose.) Panpanpan, seems what I am showing is off the track, but hope you will be patient enough to finish what I have mentioned above. Now let's come to the business, well, for a long time, all English I have been learning just a kind of tongueless language though I have nearly invested a lot of my spare time to improve my English, I just find that I have made progress both in reading and writing, but I was not brave enough to speak out, this's really an awful thing. Sure I have ever tried to improve my oral English as well, but every time, when I came to English corner of our school which would be held twice one week, I found it's hard for me to voice even a single word when others tried to chat with me.Oh, my God! They have even thought I was such a proud girl, but the fact was that I was too shy to speak out now that I have rarely spoken up in English, in my deep heart I did hope I could be daring as they were, what a pain! Though I have decided million times I would do as they have done, till the day I left my university I didn't speak out even a word in English corner. How come it's been so hard! We were given english lessons only two years in our university now that my major wasn't English. So the rest two years, I competely went on learning English by myself.Every one who has experienced the taste of learning English will know what a difficult thing it is, especially when you wanna make a big progress. Though we have quit English lessons, I must continue it so that I could pass band 6, second semester of year 1997, I got certificate of band 6 after I have failed twice, sure I was glad at that moment, while now I won't take it too seriously, anyhow it only means the past, I could really make further progress except I would like to take each success as another new jumping-off. Know when I was brave enough to speak loudly in English, well, it's a long story, I will try to make it as brief as I could. Spring of year 1999, I began to give English lesson for three classes of Grade Three in a middle school as an acting teacher. It's a big challenge to me, as I have mentioned above, I have never spoken out publicly in English, but if I wanna give lessons , I couldn't keep my mouth shut as usual, I practiced many times before I first entered in the class! Fortunately , when I first time stepped in one of their classrooms, I did well. I left there after a term, I must say I have got a fine beginning in continuing my English learning. There I even corrected some of my wrong pronuciation which was taught by my teacher before , and 'cos the classes I was teaching were about to be graduated, most time I must help them in brushing up what they have learned before, thus I just got chance to review what my teacher ever taught me when I was a student, hehe, it's really a harvest term to me, I am sure not every one has possibility to encounter such a god-given opportunity, do you agree? Thank all my students! Thank Heaven! I have got chance to speak with foreign friends face to face nearly one and half years before,I must say it's an important period to me, during this period, I have ever failed, but now I could deal with foreign friends much easier than before. It's long road for me to reach such a degree, somehow I can feel if we could learn English well, we may improve our degree in Chinese at the same time, it's really a good thing! Learning a thing is never easy, but learning English will take you more time and energy , I think it's a worthy thing even when you find you have made progress little by little. If you wanna make progress in English, PLS don't be shy to speak out, that's important, or even if you have grasped tons of English words, it's no use if you don't use them. Practice reading, writing, thinking and speaking in English as much as possible, you will be somewhere at last. Moreover, just as Panpanpan has stated in his article, better forget the grammar and tense of the sentence when you are learning English, somehow it's just like kind of rubbish, which will block you in improving your english especially when you are beginner. Hope everybody may find the best way to improve your English.
