1 Types of polybags
The buyer specifies in the purchase order what type of polybag is required:
-Individual :one piece or set per polybag.
-collective :one whole lot,solid or assorted,per polybag/carton ie one carton contains one assortment or pieces in one size-one color.
-inner Polybag :one assortment per polybag,several polybags/assortments per(mater)carton.Some assortment of small size are packed in polybags(ie one assortment in one polybag),one master carton containing several assortments/polybags.
-special cases :items loaded in GOH container must be individually packed and collectively packed(one polybag per knot or one polybag per group of five pieces).
Individual polybag (including for sets):the “pillow-case” shape is preferred because the price tag(s)/hangtag(s) is readily accessible.In case the pillow-case polybag is not available,the individual ploybag should be slit to let the price tag(s)/hangtag(s) out.
Collective polybag should not be taped(except,if deem ed necessary,with two thin pieces of tape).Instead,the bottom end of the polybag(the opening side) should be folded over so as to protect the product from dust.
Whenever the vendor deems necessary to pack the product in an individual polybag(to protect the product)without the buyer having instructed to do so,the Representative should advise the buyer and Kiabi Import Dpt,who will the relay to the DC-in order to prevent penalties from being charged.
2 Polybag quality
Inner polybags should be made of high –density polyethylene(HDPE),be 40 micron-thick.
HDPE must also be used for collective polybag.
The polybags used to pack entire assortments (which are then packed in a master carton)should be at least 40 micron-thick .it is possible that a stronger quality is required to sustain handling from the distribution center onwards(the master carton is opened at the DC and the inner polybags individually picked for shipment to the stores).
Particular attention should be paid to how the edges of the poly bag sheet are sealed together.The experience shows that these oftren break off .Kiabi Representative should therefore manually test the quality of the polybag provided by the polybag maker –if all vendors bug polybags from the same source-or by each vendor.
Utilizing strong polybags is absolutely essential as that conditions the effectiveness of the master-carton-with-inner-polybags solution-as an alternative solution to using inner carton-for packing small assortments.
