Either is fine.I reckon the first one is slightly more common only because it's shorter,but otherwise they both have the same meaning and neither is better than the other.
The first one can have a second meaning.It can mean that the plane regularly takes off at 5:00,rather than a specific 5:00.In most contexts,people would interpret the sentence to mean the same as "The plane will take off at 5:00".
意思是两个意思是一样的,不过如果用takes off的话,除了有将来时意思外,还有规律发生的意思.
