When the monster Nian pushed into the village to damage like the past years,the crackers broke out suddenly.Monster Nian shavered seriously and dared to go forward no more.Originally,Monster Nian is afraid of the color red ,fire light and the sound of explosion most.At this time ,the door opened widely and an old man with red robe laughed happily in the yard.Monster Nian was scared to death and fled in a hurry.

It was the New Year's Eve again. When the villagers were busy in packing up so they could run to the mountain as before, an old man with white hair came to the east side of the village. He told an old woman that he would drive the Monster Nian away for sure if he was allowed to live in her home for on night. Nobody believed him and the old woman tried to convice him to hide him on the mountain, but the old man insisted in staying. Everybody went to the mountain after they failed in convicing him to escape.
Nian broke in the village trying to destroy everything as before. All of a sudden, a firecracker banged. Trembling, Nian didn't dare to move one step toward the village. It turned out that Nian is scared of anything red, fire-light and bang the most. At the moment, the door opened, an old man in a red robe laughed with haw-haw. Nian was so scared that it turned whey-faced and ran away in a hurry.
The next day when people came back to the village and found nothing destroyed, they realized that the old man is an immortal coming to help them drive Nian away. In the mean time, people found three talismans used by the old man to drive Nian away.
