Among all foreign language versions, the best English version is finished by Mr. Yang Xianyi and Hawkes. Their version is claimed as “the most complete and accurate version”. Mr. Yang Xianyi is a famous translator、expert on foreign literature research in our country. He has translated innumerable Chinese traditional works into English versions and made west reader know Chinese culture. But among his numerous translation, is the one particularly focuses people’s attention, in which Mr. Yang not only could seize the essence of Chinese culture, but also accomplish weighing English words with ease. This version makes Chinese literary classics known to the outside world and English language reader taste difference existing in different cultures, know ancient Chinese amorous feelings and feel classic east broad and profound, mystery and colorful from it.
