两句话是有区别的,第一句是：我（过去）种的那棵树（现在）已经比那房子高了.第二句是：我（过去）种了一棵比现在房子还高的树,显然后一句不成立.关键是要知道定语从句是来修饰一名词或代词的,要把从句译到这一词之前,但后一句,即你要问的那句可以改为 I planted a tree,which is taller than the house.这是一非限制性定语从句,主句与从句是并列关系.这时是可以的.译为：我（过去）种了一棵树,它（现在）已经比那座房子高了.

在定语从句中,定语从句所修饰的词叫先行词, 先行词和定语从句必须用关系词连接, which就是关系词,代替先行词tree , 在这儿which 还可以用that 代替
