这是一个特殊疑问句.理解疑问句最好的方法是：把它转变成肯定句.方法是：
（1）特殊问句变成一般疑问句 ,即把特殊疑问词放到一般疑问句的正确位置之中 ：how many other people are they likely to infect ---->are they likely to infect how many other people ;【虽然结构不是完全正确的英语结构,例如本句话后面的 how many other people,但是,这会有助于中国人理解】

所以,及物动词的宾语与在句子前后都没有关系,而是它必须有宾语,一般就在这个及物动词后面,但是,这种宾语的位置随着句子谓语动词的时态,语态,语气,不同而不同,无论如何只要把它们变成正常结构或正常说话的陈述语气就很容易看清句子的成分,这并不只限于及物或不及物动词,而是对句子的语法分析都会有帮助.
