楼上回答的或许都有些道理,但似乎说服力不足.
我的回答是：
首先,在每本语法书上我们都可以看到,现在完成式是表示到现在为止已经结束的事或者是过去发生的对现在有影响的事.这里是属于后者.
再者,我们可以肯定,这是对话中的一句.从时间入手,the other day指那一天.那具体是哪一天呢,我们不知道,但可以肯定的是这天在"yesterday"之前.过去的预测结果对今天的谈话产生影响,典型的现在完成式.
最后,仅就prove本身而言,在这个意思上没有被动形式,而且通常是不用过去式的,除非变成是引用的一段对话才可能用过去式（这个是超纲的,故不用考虑）.根据经验排除法也只能选B.

感觉上使用prove的时后应当用被动，但是prove的用法就是prove to 就表示被动了，翻译成“被证明是 ”，另外在时态上用现在完成时和结果动作达成一致，如果是过去完成时就表示被证明和后半句的动作不一样了
