Although maglev has so many benefits, but until now, there is only one maglev in the world,Pudong Shanghai Maglev, turned into commercial operation really.
The 30 kilometers’ Shanghai section prepares an investment of 10 billion Yuan. But,in German, there are two maglev rails; the one is 36.8 kilometers which cost 1.6 billion Euros, and another the 78.9 kilometers rail costs 3.2 billion Euros (1Euro is about 10 Yuan).
In actual construction, based on the terrain, pavement and transport capacity, there will be a great different in the cost,of course.Whatever, one kilometer of maglev rail will cost 300 million Yuan at least. That mean, one centimeter is cost 3000 Yuan.
Principle:
The vehicle which using magnetism of electromagnet to be floating, using a T-type rail, and the both side of vehicle’s bottom surrounds the both sides of the rails. On the turned inward plane of the bottom of the vehicle fixes a powerful electromagnet, and the bottom of the rail sets steel plates.Steel is on top, electromagnet is on bottom.
The so-called electromagnet,in exactly,is just a metal coil. When the current flowing through the coil, there is magnetism produced, and then it can attracts the steel,as a result, the vehicle is been floating. When the magnetism and the gravitation of the vehicle can be balanced, the vehicle will float in a certain height above the rails. To change the current, the strength of the magnetism can also be changed,so the floating height is adjusted.
Another type maglev train using the repellent force of magnetic to keep floating. Its rails are U shaped. When the vehicle moving forward, the electromagnet set on the bottom makes the coils which buried in the rail induct current,so the coils in the rails are now turned into electromagnet. So the two electromagnets generate a repellent magnetic force to push up the vehicle above the rails.
Maglev train using the repellent magnetic force can quickly speed up to 50km/h,and after it run about 50-60m,it will float up the rails. The train can be “flying” along the ground, current, the top speed can reach to 550km/h (higher in theory).

Although maglev train owns some many benefits, however, it's only PUDONG(Shanghai Province) maglev railway came into business field by now.

Although maglev train owns some many benefits, however, it's only PUDONG(Shanghai Province) maglev railway came into business field by now.
The design of Shanghai Part ,which is about 30km, costs 100 billion, while two line of Jerman, one 36.8km, the other 78.9km, will cost 32 billion euro(1 euro is about 10 RMB). During the real construction, it changes largely according to the difference of terrain, roadbed and transport ability. Anyhow,1km line costs at least 3 billion RMB, in another word, 1 cm railway line cost about 3000 RMB!
