4.Conclusion
Using single-pot reactions of the building components in preassigned
ratios we have prepared two new hexacoordinated dinuclear
complexes and two new heptacoordinated coordination
polymers of manganese(II) dicyanamides by varying the denticities
of Schiff base ligands.The interesting feature of this work is the enhanced
coordination of the 3d ion; the use of the pentacoordinated
ligand and larger-sized bridging unit ensures such unusual coordination
number with this 3d5 ion.The difference in molecular architectures
in 1–3 shows how composition may tailor topology.The
compounds show weak antiferromagnetic coupling regardless
the nuclearities,geometries and number of bridges,which may
be due to the long l1,5-bridging of dca.We are now active to extend
such work with other paramagnetic 3d ions like cobalt(II)
and iron(III).
