As we all know,there exist two principal ways to obtain knowledge,which are gaining knowledge from experience and gaining it from books.It has been said that not everything is learned is contained in books.In my point of view,effective as gaining knowledge from experience is,the knowledge in the books is more important.
First of all,the knowledge in the books,which is called the theoretical knowledge,is the basis of practice.Without the support of the theory,the experience of individuals looks pale and it is just the partial point of a person.As the experiments we may have done in the experiment class,they all called for the support of the knowledge in the books.When we did the experiments,our correctness of the result was based on the theories in the books.From that we may know why do text books play an important role in our study.
On the other hand,an overall knowledge system is so important for our cognition to a point that without it,any fragment of knowledge that gained from experience is just partial view or individual instance.Fortunately we have access to build this knowledge system from learn knowledge in books about every subjects,and then the knowledge obtained from experience can relate to a certain branch.So the knowledge in the books provides a foundation for the experience.
However,we cannot deny the importance of the knowledge from experience,especially when it was connected with knowledge in the books.It makes us to understand the knowledge in books more profoundly through providing us a concrete example of a certain point of knowledge.And only when the example was combined with the theory,it becomes meaningful.
From what has been discussed above,it is not difficult to draw a conclusion that knowledge gained from books is more important,for it is the basis of the experience.In spite of the validity of the experience,it cannot survive without the support of the theoretical knowledge.
