Gun is a powerful weapon that can protect you but also kill you.People hold different opinions upon gun control.Though most counties make it a policy to ban guns,there’re still some reasons why we are against gun control.
For the first place,gun can protect you from dangerous people.When someone breaks into your house,when you are robbed in the street,or in other dangerous situations,you can show your gun and threaten them away,because most people are afraid of being hurt or even being killed by guns.In this way,you can keep yourself in safety without a shoot,which is the best function of gun.
For the second place,gun is the defender of freedom.America is the most typical country of holding guns.American people consider it as a civil right to have gun.Because they think the government is such a powerful machine that it can take away people’s freedom effortlessly.In order to defend their freedom,which is more important than any other thing in their mind,they have to get weapon to make them as powerful as their government.In the eyes of American people,it’s extremely necessary for them to own guns.In this meaning,don’t you think it’s important to have gun?How can people be control by a machine?
For the third place,gun is not bound to give rise to growing crime rate.It seems that free gun means higher crime rate.But is it really true?Like America,people think it is the gun policy that makes America a country which has the highest crime rate.However,I want to declare that gun can’t kill anybody; it is their users who are able to kill people.We all call America the melting pot of races.The population construction of American is so sophisticated that you can’t tell how many races there.America welcomes all kinds of people but it causes much more antinomies between them,which brings about more crime.Moreover,though people can own guns but guns are strictly used and people’s behavior is under surveillance of law.If we can set up a perfect legal system and all the people obey it,does gun still mean crime?
To sum up,I think gun is only a tool and it can’t do anything good or anything bad without people.Its usage depends on us human being.However,people are used to put too much negative values upon guns,which is unfair when we deal with guns.Only when people can use guns properly as well as reasonably will guns do well for our human beings.Of course,it calls for a perfect legal system and the changing of our notions.
