Your digital camera works more like a traditional camera. You just point and shoot. Instead of using film, your digital camera stores picures on an electronic storage medium, such as disk PCMCIA card or flash memory ,as this camera uses. Most digital cameras have a small LCD screen so you can see your photos as soon as you take them. Any photos that didn't turn out can be deleted right away,bringing up space for more photos. if you are taking pictures for web use, set your camera to its lowest resolution. Use your camera's highest resolution for photos that you are going to print.After taking pictures, you tranfer them to your PC. The transfer method depends on your camera's storage device. If your camera uses flash memory, you connect a cable from your camera to your graphic card. Digital camera manufacturers provide software for the transfer process. Start the software, then select the graphics format for the images. TIFF, BMP or JPEC file formats typically give your good flexibility for editing or conversions. Indicate the storage device and folder for your photo files. You might creat a special photo folder so that you will always know where to find them. Once the transfer is complete, you want to use a good photo editing software package to edit and print your photos.

A scanner let you convert paper documents into electronic images. To prepare for a scan, switch on the scanner and start the scanner software, open the scanner cover and place a document or a photo face down on the glass. Using your scanner software make sure that your document is squarely lied on the glass, then select the area of a document that you would like to scan. Next, select the resolution and color type for the scan. Remember that high resolutions creat clear images but requires a lot of storage space. Use the scan software to start the scan. The scan produces bitmap image file but you can edit using any bitmap software. The bitmap format is appropriate for grafics. However, scanned text now exist only as a picture, not as individual characters that you can edit with a word processor. To convert the image of text into editable characters, you must use oplical character recognition software.
