陶喆和Melody过往的恋情,在当初Melody从美国返台开创星途时,广为大家所熟知.不过,大家知道这段恋情时,他们其实已经分手了,而《Melody》这首歌曲,就是陶喆在恋曲告终之后谱写的作品.陶喆说,他写这首歌,有双重意思,一方面是悼念逝去的爱情,另一方面,也是创造一首新的“ 旋律”.

有一天,陶喆灵感一来,写下《Katrina》这首歌,第二天他鼓足勇气,捧着一束花和写好的卡片及《Katrina》的DEMO带,送到 Katrina面前.“我记得我在卡片上写着,希望可以进一步认识她,还留了我的电话,送上花的那一刻,我真的觉得自己像个大傻瓜.”
Katrina不知道当时陶喆在台湾已经是知名的歌手,她也没有接受陶喆的爱意.陶喆透露：“有好几个月的时间,她都无消无息,让我非常痛苦,后来我接到她的电话,她跟我说她觉得很感动,但她已经有了男朋友.”

David Tao often uses some girls' English name as his songs' titles in his albums.In his album The Black Tangerine,there are two girls whose name are used as songs’ titles.One is his ex-girlfriend Melody; the other is Katrina who he once wanted to pursue but finally failed.
