Reading ability has great effect on writing,listening and speaking.These four aspects of English teaching are closely related.If English teachers in high school ignore the importance of reading,they can hardly cultivate the other three abilities of students.That is to say,if English teachers in high school don’t pay any attention to cultivate or improve students’ reading comprehensive ability,it is very hard for them to improve students’ speaking,listening and writing ability.From these,we can see reading is really very important and cultivating students’ reading comprehensive ability is also very important.So,high school English teachers should fully realize the importance of reading and try their best to cultivate students’ reading comprehensive abilities.
II.The negative effect of the ignorance of reading in English teaching
As I have mentioned above,in English teaching,listening,speaking,writing and reading are closely related.If a high school teacher wants to achieve his teaching aim,he’d better not ignore any aspect of them.For a long time,students’ speaking,listening and writing ability are very weak,so high school teachers spend much time on cultivating students’ speaking and listening ability.To some extend,students’ listening and speaking ability had been improved.But high school English teachers should be aware that when they are paying enough attention to cultivating or improving students’ listening,speaking and writing ability,they should not ignore cultivating and improving students’ reading ability.Because these four aspects are closely related and they can not be separated.

象我上面提到的那样,在英语教学中,听,说,读,写是紧密联系的.如果一个高中英语老师象要完成他的教学目标,他最好不要忽视其中任何一个方面.很长一段时期,学生的说,听和写的能力很弱,所以高中老师们在学生的听说训练上花费了大量时间.在某种程度上,学生的听说能力是有所改进.但高中英语老师也应该知道,他们对培养学生的听,说,写的能力花大功夫的同时,也不应该忽视培养和提高学生的阅读能力.因为这四个方面是紧密联系的,不能分割.
