We learn Engilsh when we are young. So we don’t have the English environment around us. Everywhere what we see and hear is Chinese. So it is very very difficulty to learn English. Though it is hard, we can learn it well. Here I want to say why it is hard and how to solve the problems. First, it is not our mother language. We don’t speak it every day. We only speak it when we are having an English lesson. So it is hard for us to speak it well. When we learn a language, we need to practise it every day so that we can speak it well. If we don’t have enough practice, we can’t speak it well. How to solve this problem? I think we should try our best to speak English as much as possible. When we meet a foreign friend, we should try to talk with him/ her no matter how bad or good your English is. Also we can set one day for speaking English. On that day, everyone should speak English. When you are asking others for help, you should also ask in English. At weekends, we can go to the English Corner to practise our spoken English. In this way, we can practise English often. Then we can speak English better and better. Second, Chinese is quite different from English, esp grammar. So when we learn it, we find it hard. Sometimes we get confused. We don’t know where we can put the subject, object or adverbial. Sometimes we write or speak English in the same way as Chinse. Then the teacher will say we speak or write Chinglish. We don’t like to learn the English grammer,. It is too boring and difficult. But if we want to learn English well, we have to. How to learn the grammar well? I think we should try to do more exercises about grammar. Also we can read some books about grammer. When we don’t know why , we should ask our teachers for help. Little by little, we can write English better. Third, one of the most difficult ones about learning English is listening. Sometimes we can write well, but we can’t understand what the Englishman say. We have to think hard, but also miss something important. How to improve our listening? I think we should listen to the English programs often. Also we can watch the English programs often. At first maybe you don’t know what they are saying. But day by day, you will understand more and more, then you will feel satisfied. Also at first you can watch some programs which are easier and maybe there are Chinese explanations on it. Then later you should try to listen,not watch, then you can practise your listening ability. Fourth, Chinese people are too shy and proud to open their mouths to ask for help, esp students. They think it is weak to ask questions. When they don’t know why, they will keep it in their mind. Sometimes they will go online to ask others. But they don’t want to ask their classmates or teachers. They are afraid that their classmates will laugh at them. They are afraid that others may think they are not clever, they are too stupid. Some of them will ask their classmates secretly, but if they still don’t know why, they won’t ask the teachers for help. It is not good for them to think so. Why do you learn English?
