Production fo the GatLight V3 has been going smoothly.All of the major supplier have delivered their components earlier,or have promised early delivery.
Machining of the components has started and we expect to have the machined parts in by end of April.The premium bin LED's which normally take 6 weeks for delivery,thanks to an excellent customer service from the LED company,have been delivered (after some customs bureaucracy by DHL).The Carbon Fiber tubes should ship from Europe this week.For the solid metal core LED circuit boards,we first received those in Aluminum even though they were ordered in copper.So the company redid those and we have already received the new batch.The "pick and place" company that places the electronic components on the driver circuit board should have completed their task this week and we expect the components in this week.
There are still quite a few tasks left (soldering of the components,solid wood boxes,building the assembly line,assembling,quality control,packaging etc.),however if things keep going the way they have been,we'll be able to deliver the lights earlier than the 3 months we mentioned when taking orders.
By the way we decided to custom machine the 24 screws that go into each light rather than using stock screws.The reason being that the finish and look of custom machines screws will be a lot better.Even though it reduces our margin we felt that this was the only thing left to make the light perfect according to our standards.So when you get the light also take a close look at those screws than you'll see the difference to stock screws.
