Equality
As we know our society is gradually toward a harmonious society,equality,as one of the most important factors of "harmony" has become a focal point of the people all over the world.There is no exact definition of the word “equality”.As in each ear the meaning of equality is different.For the harmonious society,equality does not mean “the same" for everyone on material superficial but focus more on the spirit of people.That is the mutual understanding and respect.
Do you still remember the world-famous speech I Have a Dream?Do you still remember the happiness and the smiles from the blacks when they got the success of the Civil Rights Movement?When they were insist on fighting for their civil rights,when they were aimed at abolishing those discrimination and racism what they need was just equality.Without equality they could not have the same rights with the whites; without equality they could not be respected in the US; without equality their ideas and opinions could not be accepted and understood; without equality they even could not enjoy the life as an ordinary person.They need to be equaled,and they should be equaled.
Equality is needed not only between the blacks and the whites,but also between men and women.
Because of the advantages in the body and physical strength,men are considered to be stronger than women then in some fields,women are treated unfair and can not have the equal position as men.But the chasing for the equality is still on.Have you ever noticed the disappearances of the words such as policeman salesman?Have you ever noticed the great achievements which are got by women?These phenomenons have told us that the equality between men and women makes our world to be more humanistic and beautiful.
From the ancient to the modern,the development of history has proved that when we respect the principle of equality and have a better awareness of the meaning of equality we can practice the true essences of equality.Pursuing the equality,the ancients were never stop fighting against slavery and feudalism; Pursuing the equality,we treat equality as a foundation of law which is solemn; Pursuing the equality,we’ve dreamed of living in a world,where we have an equal social status in every aspects.
In my opinion,equality is important to the principles and way of life,what’s more,it is the ideal relationship between people,between people's attitude.It is also one of mankind's ultimate ideals.
