As a high school student,I believe that reading novels,especially these masterpieces written by world-famous writers,surly have a good impact on not only students’ moral criteria,but also their attitudes to life.Nevertheless,students’ reading real news has a more important effect.
Firstly,the real news can be good to students’ writing essay.When students are assigned to have an essay write,they should use specific details to support the main ideas they stating in whatever essay they need to write.If students use recent news as their examples,the essay can be more convincing.For instance,the topic is that “good triumphs over evil”.Teachers will be easily convinced by the example that Somali privates were defeated by multi-national naval forces,instead of the example that Harry Potter killed Vodimo,because the news is more demonstrative and can bring a sense of reality to teachers.The fact that most people have habits that they take reading newspaper as a part of life causes this sense of reality.There is no doubt that recent news can be helpful to students’ essays.
Moreover,students’ spending a small amount of time reading newspaper enables them to pay more attention on their studies.If students were indulged in reading novels,attracted by the appealing plot and well-animated characters appearing in the novels,their exploiting each second to uncover the unexpected ending of the great book will cause a detrimental result that they would focus less on their main job,learning knowledge,and moreover,their scores would get lower and lower.Take myself as an example,in latest term,I used a great deal of time to read Shakespeare’s masterpiece “Hamlet”,and I did not stop reading and go to bed until 1 o’ clock.My having no time to review the lesson led a sad ending that my score dropped from A to C+.Whereas,short and eloquent news reports never cost more than five minutes for students to skimming.
Another important point is that students need not only to absorb knowledge and grasp skills,but also to acquire domestic and international news in this full-of-competition society.Newspaper can fulfill students’ needs with providing instant,accurate,and important reports in varied fields.For example,when students want to cooperate to open a company,they should obtain associated business information through newspaper to ensure that their company can make a profit and approach success.Newspaper can provide plenty of valuable information for students.
To sum up,students’ reading newspaper have numerous benefit to them.Why do not teachers encourage their students to start their reading newspaper life?

首先,文章结构清晰,层次感强.
其次,文章观点明确.
第三,文章内容充分,举例较多,有血有肉.
作为一门测试外国学生英文水平的考试,我认为这篇作文写得不错.
美中不足的是,中间的三段论据支撑论点的力度不够.使用反方一样可以获得效果.

同意楼上的，觉得中间的论点有点薄弱，不太具有代表性。总体是篇还算流畅的作文，有些语法错误什么的，也是瑕不掩瑜的。

三段论述力度不够，语言方面还要加强，太平实，SAT反而可以平实一点。
尽量不要用自己例子写，这不是在考SAT，而是考你的语言水平
