The passage states that edmontosaur,a kind of dinosaur lived in cold Alaska's North Slope,survived in winter by migration.The professor in the lecture rejects this statement by providing three arguments to against author's view.
According to the passage,edmontosaurs fed on plants,but there would have no plants during the winter in the region of North Slope.Therefore edmontosaurd need to move to other areas to seek foods and to survive.However,the professor rejects this view by pointing out that edmontosaurs can easily find food in the North Slope during the winter.The climate in North Slope is much marmer than now,and earth can get in touch with sunshine 24 hours per day during the summer; These provide good condition for plants to grow,and guarantee food supply for edmontosaurs even in the winter.
Also,the passage used some examples of buffalo and caribous to show that many migratory animals live in herds,and therefore asserts sdmontosaurs also did migration because they lived in herds.However,the professor states that not all of the animals lived in herds prefer migration,and that animals live in herd for other reasons such as building extra protection from predators.She then used a example of RA,animals lived in forest,to prove her point of view.
Finally,Although the professor admits that edmonosaurs were capable of migrating,she contends that young edmonosaurs are not strong enough to migrate with adults.edmonosaurs would not leave their children alone,therefore they would rather stay with them in the North Slope,instead of moving to other region.
