　　今年35岁的布兰切特1992年毕业于澳大利亚国立艺术戏剧学校,毕业后主要从事各类戏剧演出,其中以莎士比亚名剧居多.舞台剧的功底加上与生俱来的表演天赋,使她顺利进入电影界并很快赢得了影评人和观众的认可.

　　据说当初《飞行者》剧组找到布兰切特时,由于担心演不好影迷们十分熟悉的赫本,她曾一口回绝.最后导演斯科塞斯亲自出马,告诉她扮演名人并一定要在乎外形的酷似,重要的是神似和内涵,这才打消了她的疑虑.布兰切特在发表获奖感言时对斯科塞斯的“提携”表示感谢,并开玩笑说希望自己的儿子将来能娶斯科塞斯的女儿.
