God's Coffee
A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation
soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.
Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen
and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking,
some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up,leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.
Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups. Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we live.Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided us."
God brews the coffee, not the cups. Enjoy your coffee!
"The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything."
Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
Leave the rest to God.

A woman saw three o1d men sitting in her front yard. She said, “I don’t think I know you, but you must be very hungry. Please come in and have something to eat.”
“We don’t go into a house together,” they replied.
“Why is that?” she asked.
One of the old men answered, “His name is Wealth, this is Success, and I am Love.” Then he said, “Now go in and discuss with your family which one of us you want in your house.”
Then the woman went in and told her family what was said. She said, “Let’s invite Wealth. Let him come in and bring us nice things. We have been so poor.” His husband disagreed, “My dear why don’t we invite Success? Don’t you want me to be a successful man?” Then the daughter asked. “Would it be better to invite Love? Our life will then be filled with 1ove!” “Let’s take our daughter’s advice,” said the father and mother.
So the woman went out and asked, “Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest.” Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other two also got up and followed him. Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success, “I only invited Love. Why are you corning along?” The two old men answered, “If you had invited Wealth or Success, two of us would have stayed out, but since you have invited Love, wherever he goes, we go with him. Where there is Love, there is Wealth and Success.”
Once there were some animals going to town to have a party. The sun was like a fireball in the sky. There was not any cloud and no wind was blowing.
Little Pig and Little Mouse came to the bus stop to wait for the bus. They were sweating. They thought how cool it would be if the wind blew. Then Yellow Dog and Little Cock came, too. Oh, how cool it would be if it rained, they thought. Now Little Panda and Little Monkey also came to wait for the bus. They thought how good it would be if the clouds blocked the sun.
At that time Big Elephant was coming from the river. Oh, he was here to wait for the bus, too. Big Elephant stood in front of the Little Panda. “Big Elephant, please stand behind us. You must wait for your turn,” The animals said. But Big Elephant didn’t move. Everyone was unhappy, and no one was strong enough to push him away.
“Ah! The sun was blocked!” they raised their heads and found it was the elephant. “Oh it was raining?” No, it was the water from the elephant’s nose. Then the elephant’s ears blew wind. They all felt cool now.
The bus came. Big Elephant said, “I didn’t stand in line. After you.” The animals got on the bus, but the big elephant was still at the bus stop. When the bus left, they saw big elephant walked back to the river. They understood and said, “Thank you Big Elephant.”
Three travelers, Allan, Carl and Paul were sitting on the chairs in a train station. They were waiting for a train that was very late.
To pass the time, they began talking to each other.
At first, they talked about the weather and their work. Then Paul said, “Tell me—What would you most like to do if your doctor tells you that you have only three months to live?”
The other two men thought about this for a while then Carl spoke.
“Well,” he said, “If I have only three months to live, I’ll take all my money out of the bank and go to foreign countries for holidays with my best friend, Erik. I’d like to travel to the places in the world as many as possible. And I’ll stay at the best hotels and then eat the best food. I think I’ll have a wonderful time.”
“That’s very interesting,” Paul said.
With these words, he turned to the other man, saying, “And what about you?”
“I’ll tell you a secret,” Allan said. “I always want to be a racing driver. So if I have only three months to live, the first thing I’d like to do is to sell my house. With the money I’ll buy the fastest car in the world. Maybe I can enter all the big motor races.”
Then he laughed, “I might even end up world champion.”
“Now it’s your turn,” Allan went on, “If your doctor tells you the bad news, what would you most like to do?”
“Oh,” said Paul with a smile. “I’ll go and see another doctor.”
Happiness is for everyone. You don’t need to care about those people who have beautiful houses with large gardens and swimming pools or those who have nice cars and a lot of money and so on. Why? Because those who have big houses may often feel lonely and those who have cars may want to walk on the country roads at their free time.
In fact, happiness is always around you if you put your heart into it. When you are in trouble at school, your friends will help you; when you study hard at your lessons, your parents are always taking good care of your life and your health; when you get success, your friends will say congratulations to you; when you do something wrong, people around you will help you to correct it. And when you do something good to others, you will feel happy, too. All these are your happiness. If you notice them, you can see that happiness is always around you.
Happiness is not the same as money. It is a feeling of your heart. When you are poor, you can also say you are very happy, because you have something else that can’t be bought with money. When you meet with difficulties, you can say loudly you are very happy, because you have more chances to challenge yourself. So you cannot always say you are poor and you have bad luck. As the saying goes, life is like a revolving (旋转) door. . When it closes, it also opens. If you take every chance you get, you can be a happy and lucky person.
One afternoon, when the lessons were over, John and Mike did not go home. They stayed at school to help their teacher carry some books to the library. They worked for one hour. Then the teacher said, “Thank you, boys. We will finish the work tomorrow. Now you must go home.”
When they got home, it was seven o’clock. It was dark outside but there was a light inside their home and the door was open. They could see a man inside.
“Who can it be?” said John. “Mother and father have gone to do some shopping. They won’t be back until eight o’clock.”
When the man saw John, he looked frightened. Then he smiled and said. “Come in! You don’t know me but I’m your father’s friend. He has asked me to fetch some money for him.” The man did not see Mike. John went inside and began talking to the man but Mike did not. He quickly but quietly ran away to a police station. He soon came back with a policeman. The man was still there, but when he saw the policeman, he tried to run away. The policeman stopped him and held his arm. At this moment, the boys’ parents returned.
“Is this man your friend?” the policeman asked Mr Ford.
“No!” said Mr Ford. “I am glad that you have caught him.”
