先说明一下什么叫谓语非谓语:
谓语动词: 动词原形/第三人称单数/过去式
非谓语动词种类及功能:
(1)动名词 doing [在句中可作主语/宾语/表语/定语]
(2)分词: 现在分词doing (表主动/进行); 过去分词done (表被动/完成)[在句中可作表语/定语/补语/状语]
(3)不定式 to do (未发生的动作/偶然性动作) [在句中可作主语/宾语/表语/定语/补语/状语]
英语语法最根本的原则是:动词不连用
意思是说,一个句子里面只能有一个谓语/谓语部分.如果有两个动词形式,要么把其中一个变成非谓语形式,要么把其中一个变成从句里的谓语,或者加一个并列连词,使之成为并列句中的谓语.
这么说比较抽象,举个例子吧.
He is ill, he is absent from school.这个句子不正确,因为句子里有两个谓语形式(is,is)
想让这个句子正确,可以有三种改法:
(1)把其中一个变成非谓语形式
Being ill, he is absent from school. (being ill是现在分词短语)
(2)把其中一个变成从句里的谓语
Because he is ill, he is absent from school. (because引导原因状语从句)
(3)加一个并列连词,使之成为并列句
He is ill, so he is absent from school. (so是并列连词)
如果不用上面的改法,那就干脆把它拆成两个独立的句子,这样两个句子正好两个谓语.
He is ill. Therefore, he is absent from school. (therfore"因此"是副词,对句子结构没有影响)
选动词正确形式时,要根据三个步骤:
(1)是谓语还是非谓语
(2)是主动还是被动:如果是谓语,就考虑是主动语态还是被动语态;如果是非谓语,要根据它做的成分来考虑与谁是主动/被动关系,作状语时考虑与主语的关系,作定语时考虑与被修饰词的关系,作宾补时考虑与宾语的关系.
(3)动作是什么时候发生的:如果是谓语,要考虑时态; 如果是非谓语,要考虑和谓语动作的先后关系
eg:he was confronted by an angry farmer _____ an axe.(wave)
填动词wave的正确形式,按步骤来考虑:
(1)是谓语还是非谓语: 句中已经有谓语部分was confronted("面对"),所以要用非谓语
(2)是主动还是被动:"挥舞斧头的农民"wave an axe作定语修饰farmer,考虑与被修饰词即farmer的关系,很明显,wave这个动作是由farmer发出的,是主动
(3)动作是什么时候发生的:非谓语要考虑和谓语动作的先后关系,"挥舞斧头"和"面对"是同时发生的,即谓语动作发生的时候,非谓语这个动作正在进行
结论:要填wave的非谓语形式,而且是作定语,与被修饰词是主动关系,且与谓语同时发生,即"进行"
非谓语+主动+进行=现在分词
所以要填waving
