尽管喜欢成都的悠闲氛围、舒适生活,但成都艺术家们却是入世而积极的,一直是带头大哥的周春芽更是从不以善小而不为,从1998年参与筹划“上河美术馆”到2001年参与策动“首届成都双年展”,2003年又联合郭伟、赵能智、杨冕等4位画家率先进驻机场路附近一块厂房区创办“蓝顶艺术中心”.周春芽一直是以敏锐的前瞻性和超强的行动力改变着成都的艺术生态.刚刚起步的蓝顶虽然简陋却迅速吸引来了更多的艺术家——罗发辉、舒昊、何多苓……甚至在外地的艺术家也被吸引来了,人越来越多,地盘也在扩展,如今已扩大到5个区有近50位艺术家在此进行创作,而这里也迅速成为与北京宋庄和798艺术区齐名的国内知名艺术群落.
  批评家陈默、画家马一平等人牵头,又在在离川音成都美院新区6公里的地方租用厂房创建北村艺术区.该艺术区以川音成都美院为核心,目前也已经有40多位艺术家签约入住,其中大部分为川音成都美院和居住在成都的艺术家.
  现在的蓝顶更像一个大家庭了.不同年龄的艺术家们每天在一起,很有意思,也很团结,大家很好玩,大家还经常组织爬山、踢球,几年下来每个艺术家都进步了,共同的文化经验和视觉经验有利于形成一种强大的集体策略,这对个体艺术家的成长和发展无疑有着积极的推动作用同时对社会也有很大影响,入住后不久周春芽、何多苓等艺术家们发起了一次以蓝顶艺术家为主体的大规模的当代艺术群展——“居住在成都”,不仅让国内外艺术界认识了成都的艺术群体,也让成都当地的普通市民接触到了曾经讳莫如深的前卫艺术.很多年轻的艺术家正是通过蓝顶为平台迈向北京、上海这样的艺术前沿城市,与中外知名画廊签约获得更大的发展空间.现在,蓝顶艺术中心即将搬迁至三圣乡的荷塘月色.包括周春芽、何多苓等14位优秀艺术家将进驻其中修建自己的永久工作室!成都艺术的明天肯定会更好.
