Canada is the second largest country in the world.It has ten provinces and three territories.They are all big except Prince Edward Island.Canada has very good weather so it’s the best country to live in and it’s a very good place to vacation too.Also,Canadians speak English and French,but sometimes people also speak Spanish or Chinese.Canada had built one of the world’s richest societies.
In Canada people likes to play ice hockey everywhere.People often ride snowmobiles because it’s cold and snows a lot.You often see Canadians skating because they like it!In the summer,it’s a very busy time for the pools around Canada because the water is cooler than outside.In the winter,most people go to the mountains and go skiing.Adults,children or older people all try to be the best.
Canada’s most famous food is maple syrup.They use maple syrup in pies and candies.Also,Canadians use Saskatoon berries to make special foods when it’s Christmas.In some places like Prince Edward Island,people like lobsters because the island is in the ocean.Some places near the ocean have lots of seafood like oysters,clams and Arctic char.
On nickels,there’s always a beaver.That is because beaver is Canada’s national animal.When you hear stories from First Nations people,most of the stories are about ravens,that is why the raven is Nunavut’s animal.There is a kind of loon called the common loon.It’s all white.British Columbia’s animal is the stellar’s jay,I think it looks pretty.There are lots more animals like great horned owls and blue jays too.
On Canada’s flag there is a maple leaf,so the most important tree is maple tree.In autumn,some of the trees are almost bald,but not maple tree.Maple trees’ leaves start turning red when it’s October.When it gets colder and colder,the leaves look darker and darker.In Canada,there is a kind of rose called the wild rose,and it looks pretty too.Also,there are three kinds of pine trees too.They are called lodgepole pines,jack pines and eastern white pines.Trees like red oak and western red cedar have colorful names too.
Terry Fox is one of the people you have to remember.
Terry Fox ran across Canada from St.John’s,Newfound- land to Thunder Bay,Ontario from April12,1980 to August30,1980.Rick Hansen went around the world in his wheelchair.He wore out 94 pairs of gloves and 160 wheelchair tires in 792 days.Some people have big muscles like Jeff Adams.He was the first people to use a wheelchair to go up the CN Tower’s 1,760 steps.Swimming in a lake sure is hard,but Marilyn Bell swam across Lake Ontario when she was still sixteen,when other teenagers were in school!I bet you can’t believe that David Adie ran around the Great Wall in China,he did that from July1,1982 to October7,1982.
