动名词与名词一般不能互换

你首先要搞清楚一些固定搭配。（be busy doing：忙于做某事和be worth doing：值得做某事）是固定搭配。这些要靠平时积累，否则会混淆概念的。至于你问的第二个问题没看懂。ing形式用的比较多的是表修饰:an amazing story、进行时态:The boy is having lunch。

你把现在分词和动名词搞混了。动词的ing形式有两种，一种叫现在分词，还有一种叫动名词。

现在分词与过去分词相对，如speaking和spoken，一般起修饰作用，如The teacher was busy collecting the student's exam papers.This music is worth listening twice.A young man writing novels came to speak to us yesterday.三句话中的collecting,listening,writing都是现在分词，分别修饰busy,worth和a young man,与所在句子谓语动词的时态没有关系。
而动名词的实质是起名词作用，如Our coming emcouraged them a lot.中的coming就起到名词作用，作主语，所以这里是动名词。
另外，be busy doing,be worth doing是固定搭配，不能把ing形式改为to do.
