My Dream
Everyone has a dream. Now I'll talk about my dream i What is my dream? I often ask myself. When I was a little boy, I wanted to be a soldier with a gun so that I could defend our motherland.
Now I am a young boy with a new dream——to be a doc-tor. I want to be a famous doctor, helping the sick and saving their lives. Why has my dream changed? Well, at the age of 11 I was ill, badly ill. I was told that I had cancer. I had to leave both my school and my friends and go to the hospital. Every day I suf-fered the troubles caused by this illness.
I also saw some people who were suffering and dying of ill-nesses. I made up my mind to become a doctor, so that I can help the sick people and cure them of their diseases. China is a develop-ing country. She needs good medicine and good doctors, especially in the countryside and lonely villages.
I want to try my best to help the poor sick people of our country. I want to let them have an opportunity to receive excel-lent treatments for their illnesses without having to pay much or any money.
I'll do every bit to cure the incurable. I hope to see a world where there is no cancer, no Aids, no fatal diseases. I'm confident that through the joint efforts of you and me, man will put an end to his bodily sufferings and this dream of mine will one day be brought into reality.

As we all know, exercise is good for our health. We can become stronger if we take more exercises. And exercise is more important to those small children and middle school students. If they take some exercises everyday, such as running, basketball, swimming and so on, they will grow higher and higher. Besides that, exercise can make the blood in our bodies running more quickly, thus make us healthier and healthier.
However, exercise is not useful to everybody. Some of us should not take violent exercise. For example, if you have got heart diseases, then the exercise will not rescue you. Instead, it would kill you, if the exercise is too much violent. Moreover, some old people also can not take some exercises, such as running too fast or swimming for a long time. It will make them feel too tired.
In a word, exercise is a good way to make us healthy, but we should take exercises properly according to the situation of every different person and every different time.

3.Is A Test of Spoken English Necessary
A test of spoken English will be included as an optional component of the College English Test (CET). We have all taken various English tests, but so far most of them are written ones. Have you any idea of what a spoken English test will be like, and is it necessary to take all the trouble to hold such a test? People differ in their answers.
Many people think it necessary to take a test of spoken English. They know that although they have taken dozens, even hundreds of English tests ever since they started learning it and many even have got surprisingly high marks, few of them can express themselves freely in spoken English.And if people can't speak a word of it, what's the sense of learning it and what do those high marks mean? They're none but deaf and mute before the native speakers.Furthermore, with so many college graduates and undergraduates having passed CET-4 and CET-6, a test of spoken English is an effective way to distinguish the excellent from the ordinary. Finally, it is considered a new challenge to those who"live and learn".
However, other people think otherwise. They believe there is the uncertainty about the reliability and objectivity of a test of spoken English, which may depend chiefly on human (and thus subjective) scoring instead of on machine scoring, as in the case of a standardized objective test such as CET-4 and CET-6.
At the prospect of this optional test, I feel encouraged and view it as a welcome challenge and another opportunity to improve my language ability and career potentials. I am determined to practice my oral English more often, and if I am qualified for such a test, I will not hesitate a moment to take it.

Is a Test of Spoken English Necessary?
A test of spoken English will be included as an optional component of the College English Test. Since the optional component is new to many people. It is natural that people have different opinions on it.
Some people believe it is necessary to administer a spoken test of CET. In their opinion, only when they express themselves well in spoken and written English can they say they have a good command of English. For years of learning English only produce some English readers. Many people call this as "deaf-and-dumb English". Thus, it is of great significance to adopt the new approach to assess students' ability in spoken English. However, there are also others who believe a test of spoken English is unnecessary. They think that a written test for non-English-major students is sufficient. Besides, they don't think examiners in various places can meet the criteria of consistency and reliability of a norm test. Moreover, they think, confronted with such a large number of examinees, it is tough to have such a time-consuming test.
As for me, I'd like to thank the CET committee to create such an opportunity to test my spoken English. I have made up my mind to spend more time practicing my oral English, and if I am fully prepared, I'll apply for the test without hesitation.

Long-distance trains have never been as common in the United States as they are in other parts of the world. Nowadays there is a good system of air service provided by planes. But it is too expensive to be used frequently.
The third reason is the most important one, though. The American spirit of independence is what really made cars popular. Americans don't like to wait for a bus, or a train or even a plane. They don't like to have to follow an exact timetable.And the freedom a car gives them is what Americans want most to have.
The decrease of gas supplies has caused a big problem for Americans. But the answer will not be a bigger system of public transportation. The real solution will have to be a new kind of car, one that does not use so much gas.
