What is hope?
Hope is a miracle.It is God's simple and pure gift to everyone.It is an elegant present,shiny and bright and tied with an enormous satin bow; but,in reality,it only exists within you.
You may well ask why it is miraculous.The reason is that unlike most things in life,hope cannot be taken away from you.
Fate is fickle.As we are all well aware,it can cause you to lose things such as your home and your job,leaving you without shelter,clothing,or anything to eat; but the one thing you will always have left is your ability to hope that things will improve.
People can steal from you,and they will.They can take your money and other possessions,even your lover and loved ones.You can be left all alone in this world with no one to cling to,but you can still have hope.
Your best friend may betray you,or you may become the object of ridicule; but hope will never cause you such pain.If anything,hope will help you transcend the pain.
You may find yourself attacked,beaten up,and left for dead in the street.Or you may find yourself ill in the hospital with the chances slim that you will survive your illness.
All these things can happen to you,and it would be terrible luck to have any one of them occur,let alone several of them.But even if they did,the one thing you would continue to have left would be hope.And this hope can sustain you until the murky waters recede and life returns to normal.
Hope is like a distant sun.It radiates massive heat and energy,and a warmth that stays inside of you like an eternal flame,which,whether or not you realize it,keeps you going in your darkest hour.
You are probably wondering why hope can never be taken from you.The reason is that it is alive within you forever.It is not tangible and therefore cannot be stolen or borrowed or misplaced.You will always have hope as a part of you,as real as an arm or a leg,as long as you are alive.It is God's perfect gift to everyone,and it costs nothing.
So,if things become grim,as they do many,many times during the course of a lifetime,do not despair.As long as you have hope,there is a chance for a new beginning,a new day.
The one thing I truly believe about hope is that it springs eternal,and with hope there are unlimited possibilities and opportunities just waiting to be revealed.
Remember this in your time of need and you will never feel despair.Instead,you will remain calm and wait with patience for that wonderful something to come to you that will change your life around.
With hope,anything is possible.
