1.Foreign languages are the ideal subject area for the use of memory techniques.Learning vocabulary is often a matter of associating a meaningless collection of syllables with a word in your own language.
Traditionally people have associated these words by repetition - by saying the word in their own language and the foreign language time and time and time and time again.You can improve on this tedious way of learning.
2.That is right,folks,if there would be a generation gap,which I am not sure I would buy into it at this point in time,perhaps when the baby boomer generation starts retiring in a few years,I think that we have got everything we need to address it well ahead of time and make it a transparent change of the workforce.And all that through incorporating a mentoring program as part of the Knowledge Management strategy so that the older generation has got a chance to pass on that knowledge and,much more importantly,the younger generations have got a chance to absorb all of that knowledge.And although I can imagine that there may be some issues coming up initially I bet that if that mentoring program would promote the usage and adoption of social software the chances of success would be much higher.Why?Because there would be a two way road in place from knowledge workers to collaborate with one another:the older generation(s) will get busy transferring their knowledge and experiences and the younger generation can show and lead the way to make effective use of those social software tools for the older generation(s).
