Scarlett O'Hara is the anti-heroine of Gone with the Wind, a character who breaks the conventions of a romance novel from the first line of the book "Scarlett O'Hara was not beautiful, but men seldom realized it." A spoiled, high-tempered, and strong-willed sixteen-year-old Southern belle, Scarlett is the eldest of three O'Hara daughters who live an idyllic life on a North Georgian plantation called Tara. In the opening scenes, the O'Haras prepare to entertain their neighbors with a barbecue, and Scarlett plots to capture the man she loves-Ashley Wilkes-from her friend, Melanie. However, Ashley rejects her, and Scarlett's nemesis, Rhett Butler, overhears her humiliation. Rhett, a wealthy outcast from high society who "looks like one of the Borgias," is both amused by and interested in Scarlett.

“Gone with the Wind” is a novel by Margaret Mitchell set in the Old South during the American Civil War and Reconstruction. The novel won the Pulitzer Prize in 1937 and was adapted into a film of the same name, which won the Academy Award in 1939. This story is about loves in that war.
Scarlett spent her young maiden years in the Old South. She was well disciplined by her mother, but her blazing green eyes always betrayed her covert, capricious self, who enjoys parties and the surrounding of beaus. She dreamed of marrying Ashley Wilkes, who however was going to marry his placid cousin Melanie. Scarlett did not know Rhett Butler was there when she pled with Ashley to choose her instead of Melanie at the party at Twelve Oaks on the day the Civil War began.
The impending war shattered the golden peace and left many lives permanently changed. Scarlett was made a peculiar widow and then compelled into a second marriage in continuation of her struggle for the salvation of Tara, a plantation symbolizing the culture of the Old South. Her third marriage to Rhett Butler was also jeopardized because of her secret and stubborn ardency for Ashley.
Finally, Scarlett was left only with her Tara, a place where she could ever gather her strength. Today, Scarlett is also known for the line “tomorrow is another day”.
