妈妈，我的那顶草帽不知怎么样了？
就是那年夏天在从碓冰去雾积的路上，
掉进峡谷的那顶麦秸草帽哟！
妈妈，那是我喜爱的帽子哟！
可是，突然刮来一阵风，
那时，叫我多么懊恼。
妈妈，那时从对面走来个卖药的青年，
他脚缠藏青的绑腿手戴保护套，
千方百计想帮我拾回那帽子，
但终于没有拾到手。
因为那是很深的峡谷，
而且长满了人高的草。
妈妈，那顶帽子真的怎么样了？
当时盛开在路旁的小百合花，
也许早已全都枯凋？
秋天，在那灰雾笼罩的山底，
那帽下，也许每晚都有蟋蟀在鸣叫。
妈妈，现在一定是——
在那峡谷里，象今晚一样，
静静地落满了秋雪，
要把那曾经油光闪亮的意大利草帽，
和我写在那上面的“Y．S”字母一起埋掉，
