During precipitation,some water falls on highlandsand mountains.The force of gravity pulls the water downhill.As the waterflows to lower levels,it erodes (侵蚀) thesoil and rocks.In this way,after many thousands of years,mountains are worndown.The water that runs off the land during precipitation cuts smallchannels.The larger channels drain into still larger ones,until finally thewater empties into the main stream that runs to the sea.The water carries tothe sea the materials it has eroded from the land.
Some of the precipitationthat falls is captured in mountain glaciers.As the glaciers slide downmountain sides,they cut the mountains into sharp and jagged (犬牙交错的)peaks.The ocean also changes the face of the land.As waves pound (拍打)against the shore,they cut away land and leave steep cliffs (陡崖) .

水怎样塑造地表形态
水在陆地水循环中塑造着地球表面的形态.水能移高山为平地,进而侵蚀平地为河谷,甚至更深一步使之变为峡谷.水也能塑造三角洲地形,或是塑直海岸线.
在降雨的过程中,一些雨水落在山区或者高地上,这时候重力就会使得这些雨水顺势而下.当雨水流到地处的时候们就会侵蚀当地的岩石和土地,这样长此以往,上千年之后,高山也会被夷平,河道也被开垦.较小的河道中的水会汇流至较大的河道中,直到所有的支流汇合到干流并流向大海.在这个过程中,水会把陆地上所侵蚀的营养物质也带入大海.
一部分雨水降落在山顶的积雪地带,即所谓山地冰川,这些冰川在融化滑动的时候就塑造了犬牙交错的山峰.
海洋也塑造者陆地的形态,比如海水不断地拍打着海岸,使得海边的陡崖得以形成.
