About the main characters
Anne, there is an Anne living in every girl’s heart
Anne is a lovely girl, she is optimistic and energetic, and she is full of fancy while sometimes she is troublesome. She has a lot of advantages and disadvantages; she is sensitive like any normal girls. She is a girl near our life, when we read the stories about Anne; we can remind some things happened in our childhood, they were interesting, too.
So as I say, there is an Anne living in every girl’s heart. She is talkative and full of illusion; she talks to Matthew all the way to green gables. She is sensitive about all the things happened around her and she is also fragile especially Marilla hesitates about whether they take Anne in or not. She has high self-esteem, and she is obstinate about what she decides, she can’t stand others insult her on her red hair. So at first she argues with Mrs. Rachel Lynde and refuses to be friend with Gilbert, the most handsome and intelligent boy on the island. She is stubborn though she is regretful she still says something heart full.
Anne is not just a character far away from us; she is just a little girl as we used to be. When we were young, we also like day dreaming, many colorful things in the world we contribute by our imagination. Anne loves nature, in fact all kids love nature, both kids and nature are the symbol of pure, and they are the same. Anne loves seeing the beauty of nature and she is fond of giving pretty names to rivers, trees, flowers and so on.
Anne loves talking; talking is kids’ instinct. We talk and ask what we curious about.
Anne is straight and outgoing, she is a girl that says what she want and what she like, though sometimes it is hard to bare and understand.
Anne hopes to be loved. She wants Matthew and Marilla to love her and accept her; she wants to make friends with Diana and hopes Mrs. Barry won’t hold them back. She cherishes their friendship. Everyone wants to be loved by their parents, family members, and friends and so on. Love is the common language of the whole world; Anne tells us how to love and how to live.
Anne is also a perseverance girl. Though she faces a lot of unfortunates, she’s still smiles and confronts them. She cannot stand others better than herself, she never loses, she struggles to make things go like she wants.
Anne has all the qualities we had or still have, she also makes mistakes as we did because of fancy, vanity and so on. She does a lot of wrong things and corrects them gradually. As she says, she never makes a mistake twice, she always makes new mistakes and she grows from the mistakes.
Anne is a girl whom we can learn something from. Anne is a girl sleeping in our heart and waiting for us waking her up.
Matthew and Marilla, the siblings with different personalities
Their life becomes colorful because of Anne’s coming.
It’s Matthew that takes Anne to their home, Green Gables. He is a quiet man, and he is always shy of facing females. He is a kind man and he loves Anne, even though she is not the one they really want. Matthew is not good at talking at all, he uses actions to show his love to Anne. He is the motivation of Anne to study hard and try her best to do things. Anne complies with whatever he says. However, it is a tragedy that Matthew has heart attack, and he dies of it suddenly since the bank saving their money is bankrupt. It is true that we all have to face death someday, the part of the story that Matthew dies not only makes Anne sad, but also makes me think about our lives.
Marilla is Matthew’s sister. She is calm and strict, at first she is not satisfied with Anne and she plans to send her back. Matthew doesn’t agree, and then Marilla has mercy on her and realizes if she sent Anne to Mrs. Peter’s home, Anne would suffer a lot. At last Marilla makes up her mind to let Anne stay at green gables. As time goes by, Marilla loves Anne though she says nothing, she hides her love in her heart, Anne brings her happiness. Marilla can not imagine how she lives before Anne comes, because Anne truly brings vigor to the farm. She controls Anne to make her a good girl and Anne really does. She doesn’t regret to adopt the girl and it is the girl who tells them how to live.
Diana, Anne’s best friend-let you know what true friend is
They are the best friends. They share their happiness and sorrows, they can’t stand separated, they have similar personalities and they treat the friendship between them is the most precious thing. Though there is something happening because of Anne’s carelessness, they pay for a lot and finally they are still forever friends.
It shows us the meaning of true friend, they don’t judge person from their appearance, and they make friends as they want.
4- the neighbors, harmony roots kindness
The neighbors are getting along well with one other. Mrs. Rachel Lynde, Mrs. Berry and other people in Avonlea, including the pastor’s wife Mrs. Allan and the new woman teacher Miss Stacy. They are all kind and warm-hearted, good neighbors lead to a happy life.
Gilbert, love is hazy
Gilbert is the smartest boy in the class and he likes to play trick on girls. However, Anne doesn’t care and what he does saying Anne’s hair is like carrot makes Anne angry and never forgive him. He wants to make friends with Anne and tries whatever he can to attract Anne’s attention, while Anne never minds. They might be friends, but both of them are stubborn, they don’t want to yield to the other, though Gilbert is eager for being company with Anne, Anne doesn’t and treats him as a competitor. They compete through their learning process, and finally they become friends. In the sequel, they marries and lives a happy life. Love from when they were young is hazy, but at last the true love lasts.

片段点评：关于教育方式Marilla’s way of educating Anne
In a manner of speaking, Marilla’s education of Anne is successful. She loves Anne but she doesn’t speak it out. She is strict with Anne about what Anne does, she knows that Spare the rod, spoil the child. She knows if she don’t educate Anne well, Anne will be a bad girl. She teaches Anne how to make the room tidy, how to pray, how to do things well, how to relate to other people. Marilla’s education is on the practical moral dimension. What we should do first is not teaching students knowledge, but how to be a real human being. Marilla asks Anne to apologize to Mrs. Lynde. Marilla tells Anne that she must go to Mrs. Lynde and tell her she is very sorry for her bad temper and ask Mrs. Lynde to forgive her. She tells Anne how to be a polite girl, and to be kindness. She forces Anne to experience the Haunted Wood in twilight to see good imagination can go wrong and from then on Anne doesn’t fancy something bad. Anne also has good lesson from dyeing her hair and so on.
Anne becomes cute and lovely, it all owes to Marilla. However, there is no perfect education. Marilla gives Anne plain simple clothes; it makes Anne lack of something that Matthew finds. Then Matthew buys Anne beautiful dresses to make Anne equal to anyone else. The sibling’s education of Anne learns from other’s strong points to offset the other's weakness which leads to Anne’s success.
