国际商务谈判实际上也可以说是人与人之间的交流活动.人们之间的交往要符合一定的礼仪规范.在商业谈判中,懂的必要的礼节与礼仪,是谈判人员必须具备的基本素质.如果违反礼仪规范,不仅会影响双方融洽关系的形成,而且还会影响对方对自己在修养、身份、能力等方面的评价,甚至影响谈判的成效.当与外国人进行商务谈判时,由于各自生活在不同的社会文化背景之中,因此,各自的民族文化、习俗以及礼仪等差别比较悬殊.
礼仪在人们的交往过程中具有重要作用.首先,它可以沟通人们之间的感情,感受人格的尊严,增强人们的尊严感;其次,它有助于发展我国人民同世界各国、各地区人民的友谊.在涉外交往中,遵守国际惯例和一定的礼节,有利于我国的对外开放,有利于展现中国礼仪之邦的风貌;最后,健康、必要的礼仪可以赢得人们的尊敬和爱戴,广交朋友,避免隔阂和怨恨.如果一个人在日常生活、工作中,彬彬有礼,待人接物恰如其分,诚恳、谦恭、和善,就必定受到人们的尊重.
国际社交场合,服装大致分为礼服和便装.正式的、隆重的、严肃的场合着深色礼服(燕尾服或西装),一般场合则可着便装.目前,除个别国家在某些场合另有规定(如典礼活动,禁止妇女穿长裤或超短裙)外,穿着趋于简化.
