would用法之一于其类似，即表“过去常常（做某事）”。不过二者有区别：一是would没有确切的“现在已不再”之意而是可能还存在（因此若某些语境已经或要表明动作的“昔日不再”，那么would便不可用）；二是would更倾向于表达历史上某个动作的频繁而不能是历史上某一状态的持续。
