How do western countries place tablewares?
Usually people will put a tablecloth on the table to keep the table clean and also make the table look more beautiful.Then people will place the tablewares on the table according to a certain order.
In the middle two plates are stacked together.The upper one is salad plate and smaller than the other one.The bigger one is service plate.And the thing put on the salsd plate is napkin.On the left side of the plates is two forks.The bigger one is salad fork,the other is dinner fork.Except for these two forks,there is another fork which is placed in front of the two plates.This fork is for eatting cake.
What put upper behind the cake fork is dessert spoon.So the cake fork and the dessert spoon are placed in front of the two plates.Where is the soup spoon?It is placed on the right side of the two plates.Between the two plates and the soup spoon is two knives.Both knives's cutting edge should be on the direction of the two plates.The one which is nearer the two plates is dinner knife and the other one is fish knife.There are also three knives.The last one is bread knife which is placed on the bread plate.And the bread plate is placed in the front of dinner fork.
The last is the setting of glasses.The glasses are placed on the right side of bread plate which should be placed on the upper right side of dessert spoon.From left to right the use of each glasses is different.The left one is used for drinking water,the middle one is used for drinking red wine and the right side one is used for drinking white wine.
There are also many differences between chinese and western table manners.Chinese concern more about the sitting sequeces.And another important difference is drinking wine.Chinese people like to ask others to drink wine for various reasons.When you give a toast to others,you need to concern the status and choose whom you should toast first.Generally speaking,Chinese care more about the people sit around the table,while western people concern more about the tablewares,seem more rational while eating.
