克制犯罪欲望最好的方法,或许就如某位喇嘛高僧所言：〔当我们心中浮起邪念时,应该立刻用理智把这种邪念拉回正路上去.只有坏的念头一产生,就该有所警觉.
陈述,古号密直,任建州浦城县官的时候,有人丢了东西.所捉到的人嫌疑犯中,不知道谁才是真正的小偷.於是,陈述便骗他们说：〔某县有一口钟,能够分辨盗贼,听说非常灵验.〕
接著差人把钟放在后面阁楼供奉著,彷佛真有其事.某日,叫许多囚犯站在钟前,告诉他们说：〔没偷东西的人,摸了钟,是不会发出响声的；只有真正的小偷摸了钟,才会发出声音来.〕
陈述和同事便向钟虔诚地祭拜一番,祭拜好了,就用布幕把钟四周围著,一面暗中差人把墨涂在上头.经过好一阵子,才一一传唤嫌疑犯进阁楼摸钟.他们出来后立即检验他们的手是否沾染了黑色墨汁.
只有一个人没有.陈述便审问他,手上没墨的人做贼心虚,果然承认是自己犯的案子.这件案子之所以如此快速破案,是因为他恐怕摸了钟,钟会发出可怕的响声,所以才不敢去摸.没想到,这反而中了陈述的计.
