C． 独特用法比较：

want
可后接动名词（与need通用）
作“缺少”解，用法同lack.
want用作不及物动词，作“缺欠”解，后接介词短语。如：
Don’t let him want in his old age.(别让他老年时生活困难。)

desire
Desire的地去分词可作定语，如：To our delight, it has produced the desired effect.

long
可后接for sb. to do sht.。如：He longed for his friends to call for him.

expect
常用于比较类的句子。如：She looks much younger than we expected.

hope
能用so或not代替后面的宾语比较：
---Will it be fine tomorrow? --- I hope so.

wish
能接双宾语，能对过去的事情表示希望（带有惋惜）。如：
I wish I hadn’t said it.
