According to scientists,the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.6 and happened on the active
fault line that runs between theTibet Plateau and the Sichuan Basin.It had a depth of about 6 miles beneath the earth surface,which is relatively shallow,experts say this is probably why it was so destructive.
Although not as powerful as the 2008 earthquake,its force was felt more than a hundred
kilometers away in the provincial capital of Chengdu,it will take an event of unprecedented
magnitude to interrupt most brides' wedding day.But today’s tremor will stir up the memory of the 2008 earthquake in the same area,which claimed
more than 80000 lives,and in the name of the job,this journalist reported for duty.
