The recent landslide tragedy which claimed 16 lives at an orphanage in Hulu Langat raises a numbers legal and social issues including responsibilities of local authorities,approval procesures,hillside decelopment plans and safety of public.Unually heavy rain over three days,with a rainfall up to 80mm on the day of the tragedy,has been blamed as the main cause of the landslide causing a large volume of water gushing down the slope.It was also a known fact that there was no approcal from the local authority for the building .
You are to discuss the importance of submitting and obtaining planning and buildings.
You are to work as a team to complete there tasks and to assume the following:
1) your team has been assigned by the Board of Directors of the orphanage to desig,prepare tender,select the most suitable contractor for the project and supervise the execution of the project including the handing over to the orphanage,at the same time site.
2) The design has been duly completed,talking into considerations the existence of the slope and the necessary precautionary measures.A safe distance is boserverd in the design of the building and the slope.
