Vincent van Gogh, for whom color was the chief symbol of expression, was born in Groot-Zundest, Holland. The son of a pastor, brought up in a religious and cultured atmosphere, Vincent was highly emotional and lacked self-confidence. Between 1860 and 1880, when he finally decided to become an artist, van Gogh had had two unsuitable and unhappy romances and had worked unsuccessfully as a clerk in a bookstore, an art salesman, and a preacher in the Borinage (a dreary mining district in Belgium), where he was dismissed for overzealousness. He remained in Belgium to study art, determined to give happiness by creating beauty. The works of his early Dutch period are somber-toned, sharply lit, genre paintings of which the most famous is "The Potato Eaters" (1885). In that year van Gogh went to Antwerp where he discovered the works of Rubens and purchased many Japanese prints.
In 1886 he went to Paris to join his brother Théo, the manager of Goupil's gallery. In Paris, van Gogh studied with Cormon, inevitably met Pissarro, Monet, and Gauguin, and began to lighten his very dark palette and to paint in the short brushstrokes of the Impressionists. His nervous temperament made him a difficult companion and night-long discussions combined with painting all day undermined his health. He decided to go south to Arles where he hoped his friends would join him and help found a school of art. Gauguin did join him but with disastrous results. In a fit of epilepsy, van Gogh pursued his friend with an open razor, was stopped by Gauguin, but ended up cutting his own ear off. Van Gogh then began to alternate between fits of madness and lucidity and was sent to the asylum in Saint-Remy for treatment.
In May of 1890, he seemed much better and went to live in Auvers-sur-Oise under the watchful eye of Dr. Gachet. Two months later he was dead, having shot himself "for the good of all." During his brief career he had sold one painting. Van Gogh's finest works were produced in less than three years in a technique that grew more and more impassioned in brushstroke, in symbolic and intense color, in surface tension, and in the movement and vibration of form and line. Van Gogh's inimitable fusion of form and content is powerful; dramatic, lyrically rhythmic, imaginative, and emotional, for the artist was completely absorbed in the effort to explain either his struggle against madness or his comprehension of the spiritual essence of man an

It's already December! Time flies!! I forgot my dairy again. Kakaka...
I'm very happy that last week,I met 1 of my best friends in MSN. It has been a long time that we haven't chatted with each other. I'm so happy that he's doing well. I wish that sometime later we can meet again! Sometimes it's really good that we chat with friends we haven't met for a long time but still we got a lot of silly things to talk about.
Another day I went out for dinner with my friends. We enjoyed chatting and eating. Somehow from our talk, I start to get worry about one of them. Umm....I really hope that every one of my friend can be happy all the time.
Every weekend, I enjoy going out for camping or hiking. Hehe, especailly with my tiger! Ho Ho~The weather is so good that it's very relaxing to go wild camping. We can cook, play mass game, very happy! This weekend we didn't go wild camping, instead, we go to a resort house to spend time together. We had BBQ, baking cakes...it's really enjoyable! But my friends and I mistakenly add extra juice to the cake that the cake turns into grey colour. Ha Ha...I'll learn more about cooking. He He...
I did a lot of housework yesterday so I'll rest at home today. He He...So much for today! 第2 Wonderful Christmas~~
This Christmas was so wonderful~~ I had a lot of activities and had great fun!! I really don't want to get up to work this morning. Ha Ha...
On 24th, I went to my best friend's graduation ceremony in police trainning school. It's so touching to see her passing out!! I know it had been a hard time for her. I hope that she'll do well in the furture. It was a hard time for me to wake up so early on that day too! Ka Ka....
That night, I went to a party in my friend's house. It was great too! We played a lot and eat a lot. When I get back home, I went to bed at 3a.m., very sleepy~
The next day, I went camping, so I was a bit exhausted. After we set up the tent, I immediately got inside and slept. Ha Ha...I slept so well under the cool weather. We had good dinner that night, steak, big mushroom, spagetti, etc. I was so full~~
On 26th, I had a family Christmas party!! My tiger went together with me too~ We enjoyed eating the delicious food prepared by my uncle, exchanging presents and playing bingo games!! I bingo 3 times!! Very lucky~ So, i got a lot of presents~
So....finally On 27th, I went to yum cha with my grandma. It has been a long time that I haven't seen her. She's still very cute! Ha Ha...After that I get to my friend to get my late christmas present. I'm so surprised and happy to heard about the story behind my present. Thanks so much yanyan~~
第3Christmas is coming!!
Christmas is coming!! I really look forwrd to it! I have exchanged my first Christmas present and I got a M&M's Monopoly!! I love it so much as I couldn't get it in Hong Kong. Thanks so much for tiger's effort to get it from USA! I'm happy that tiger likes the presents I bought too!! After exchanging presents, we went to see movie---King Kong. It's a movie which lasts for 3 hours but it was so exciting that I didn't feel sleepy at all!! We had a very good time!!
In the coming Christmas time, I'll have some christmas parties with my friends and family and go camping as well. I really hope that Christmas will come quick! He He...
On 24th, it's my best friend's graduation ceremony from the police trainning school. So, I'll go there to take some photos for her. I specially took a day off for that day because the ceremony starts in the morning. I should wake up very early that day....help~~~~~~~Anyway, I'm so proud of her!! I hope she'll go well in the future!!

My school is very beautiful. It is Nanhai Experimental School. There are three tall buildings in our school. They all have five floors. In the teaching building, the P.E.room is on the first floor. The library is on the second floor. The science rooms are on the third floor. The computer rooms are on the third floor and the fourth floor. The music rooms are on the third floor and the fourth floor. My class room is on the fifth floor. I am in Class9, Grade 6. There are five gardens in our school. In the gardens there are many beautiful flowers, grass and trees. There is a big playground in my school.
I like my school, because my school is very beautiful
