Mrs.Meng nee Zhang,was the daughter of Zhang Qi,who was a nobleman in dukedom of Wei during the Waring States era,she grew up in the village of Xi Zhang,town of Fan Cun,Tai Gu county,Shan Xi province.In the fourth year of king Lie of Zhou Dynasty(372 B.C.),she gave birth to Meng Ke.Meng Ke's father passed away when he was three years old,Mrs.Meng endured much hardship,kept the Meng family's honor,raised Meng Ke,educated him,and finally,Meng Ke grew up to be a great scholar,philosopher.He was honored as Mencius,or Master Meng,the second most revered Master after Confucius.
