About 300 B.C.an Indian writer told people something about
forests.The forests of those days were a bit like national parks
today.The sport of killing animals was carefully governed.That
was,people couldn't kill animals freely.Some animals were fully
protected.Within the forests,nobody could cut trees,burn wood,or
catch animals for their furs.Animals dangerous to human beings
were caught or killed outside the forests so that other animals
could not become worried or afraid.
The meed for wildlife protection is greater now than ever
before.About a thousand kind of animals are in danger of
extinction,and the speed of extinction has been increasing.As for
mammals(哺乳动物）,the speed of extinction now is about one kind
every year .From A.d.1 to 1800,the speed was about one kind every
fifty years .Everywhere ,people are trying their best to save
wildlife thinking about the world's growing population.
