Some years ago,a six-year-boy from Corvallis,Oregon suffered burns over 85% of his body. His conditon was so bad that several doctors gave him up and one hospital would not allow him to enter because they thought he would die anyway.
His life was saved, however,by eight brave people-his parents,3nurses and 3 doctors-especiallu the nurses. After other nurses had given up,these women took turns taking care of the boy, seeing him through operations, crucial periods in which death almost gained victory, and boring days of rehabilitation. The boy grew to dislike them,as he thought they caused his pain.
His room was small. The door was shut. The nurses stayed with him, dressed in caps and gloves.Within an hour they got sweaty. For 14long months the nurses gave their all to the boy. Then one day,he finally climbed from his bed and walked.
It was a great day!The nurses were rewarded for their efforts.Their sense of satisfaction was so great that each said they'd continue efforts.
What caused them to feel so satisfied?i think it was more than simply the fact that the boy lived.Together they did something nearly impossible, but also truly important.
It is like something American educator Booker T.Washington once said,"Those who are happiest are whose who do the most for others."
What these nurses did was important. They worked hard and selfessly. And in doing so ,they found satisfaction.
