Hong Kong teenagers are undeniably some of the most fortunate among their counterparts all over the globe.We are entitled to various freedoms.We enjoy a 9-year compulsory education.We have massive opportunities for receiving tertiary education.We have a sound economy and an accountable government.However,despite all these,the teenage problem in the territory is rather serious.The following are some examples.
香港的青少年无疑可以说是全球中最为幸运的一批了,有各种自由,有9年制义务教育,有数不清的各种接受第三期教育的机会.还有坚实的物质基础和可靠的政府,然而在此之外,这里的青少年问题仍然很严重.下面是几个例子.
First of all,many youngsters lack parental care.Many parents are out working the whole day,only coming back home late at night when their children have just gone asleep,Thus,the two generations seldom communicate with each other,let alone other interactions.The teenagers may then resort to other sorts of excitement triad activities drug abuse,smoking itc.This also leads to the next issue:

首先,许多青少年缺乏父母关爱.多数父母整天在外工作,只有很晚才回家,而孩子们此时已经睡觉了.因此,两代人很少互相交流,更别说其他互动了.导致青少年们很容易被其他刺激性的东西吸引,例如吸毒、吸烟等问题.这也同时引发另一个问题：青少年犯罪
Though statistics shows that the Juvenile crime rate in HK is far behind other western countries,the surging figures do make us worry.Teenagers engage in various criminal offence,ranging from stealing to triad activities,from drug abuse to prostitution.It seems that the government is just not capable of deterring youngsters from going the wrong path.
尽管统计数据表明香港的青少年犯罪率远低于其他西方国家,而实际数据却令人忧虑：青少年犯罪包括了各种类型,从盗窃到抢劫,从滥用毒品到色情活动,看起来政府在青少年教育上做得还不够好.
One other worrying subject is teenage suicide.Undoubtedly youngsters in HK are under sundry pressure.Academic and examinations are one source.Parental expectation is just another.They are indoctrinated by social dogmas not to fail their family’s anticipation when the pressure reaches a certain critical point,they just can bear it no longer and take refuge from committing suicide.

To tackle this complex problem,the government has to take the initiative.Providing adequate counselling is urgent.There should be no more sharing of social workers in secondary schools.In fact,one social worker per school is far from enough.The trouble faced by our future pillars has yet to be uncovered.Moreover,parents should spend move time with their children.Should their children go astray they are the first to blame.If parents are not doing their job,who are supposed to nurture our younger generations?In Spite of the present recession,there is point to being engaged in work all the time.Parents should spot all abnormal behaviour of their children and give them proper guidance.After all,when the decide to give birth to their children,they have prepared to take good care of them.
为了解决这些难题,政府必须做出行动.设置足够多的心理咨询势在必行.在中学里面不能再共享社工了,事实上,一个学校一个社工远远不够,学生是未来的栋梁,而他们面临的问题还远没有解决.更深一步,父母也应该花更多时间跟孩子们在一起.如果孩子们误入歧途,父母是首先应受责备的.如果父母都不做好自己的职责,谁还能更好地养育下一代?除了当前的 ,父母应注意孩子的所有不正常的举动,并给他们合适的指导.毕竟,当决定生孩子的时候,父母就应该准备好好好照顾他们.
No one would like to have a deteriorated generation to take over our community.Yet there is no antidote to the teenage problems.The way out lies in the cooperation between the government and parents.
