ONE WINTER a Farmer found a Snake stiff and frozen with cold.He had compassion on it,and taking it up,placed it in his bosom.The Snake was quickly revived by the warmth,and resuming its natural instincts,bit its benefactor,inflicting on him a mortal wound."Oh," cried the Farmer with his last breath,"I am rightly served for pitying a scoundrel."
The greatest kindness will not bind the ungrateful.

It was a cold winter evening,an old man had don his work and was going home from the fields.
On his way he saw some thing on the ground.He looked at it and found it was a snake.
It was not dead,but it couldn't move because it was so cold.
"Poor thing," the man said,"I must try to save your life."
"He picked it up and looked for a warm place to put it in.
But how could he find one in such cold weather?So he decided to put the snake inside his clothes,right nest to his heart.
A few minutes later,the snake came back to life and began to move.
When it had become strong enough.it gave the man a deadly bite.
He killed it and went on.When he got back,he was very ill and had to lie down.
He knew he was dying.

It happened in a very cold winter. One day a farmer was on his way home. Suddenly, he saw a snake lying on the ground, almost frozen to death. "Poor snake! let me save your life!" said the farmer. Then he put the snake under his coat, next to his warm body.
A few minutes later, the snake came back to consciousness. The farmer did not get any signs of thanks for saving the snake life. In stead, the snake bit the farmer and left. "Poor me! Why did i save the lift of a cold-blooded snake? "cried the dying farmer.
