赖于对祖国、对家乡、对人民、对生活无比热爱,他三次救火而不留姓名；他有着远大志向,要做像李四光那样的科学家；他坚持几年为家乡探险寻宝,利用节假日采集矿石标本,进行无线电实验.他求知若渴的进行学习,好追根寻底,有积极探求的进取精神.1988年3月13日,石棉县海子山突然发生山林火灾,为了扑灭山火,挽救山村,保护电视地面卫星接收站的安全,赖宁主动加入了扑火队伍,他不顾个人安危,在烈火中奋战四五个小时,献出了宝贵的生命.为了表彰赖宁的崇高精神,1988年5月,共青团中央,国家教委做出决定,授予赖宁“英雄少年”的光荣称号.号召全国各族少年向赖宁学习
