In this paper,effect of heat-killed lactic acid bacteria (LAB) on repairing and protecting intestinal mucosa were discussed,based on simply reviewing several preventive measures of intestinal mucosa lesion and analyzing their pros and cons.In addition,the possible mechanisms of protective effect were also introduced in this paper,mainly including adhesion to intestinal epithelia; non-specific immune stimulation to intestinal mucosa; polypeptide antibacterial substances in metabolites,etc.These findings suggest that a new microecological preparation made of heat-killed LAB and their metabolites can alternative various additives in livestock and poultry breeding.It can prevent and cure common animal diarrhea,reducing the use of antibiotics and additive residues in animal products and environment,improving the safety of animal and poultry products.And further research into heat-killed LAB would be worth while.
