It is an undeniable fact that motor vehicles have gravely polluted the air on which we exist.Many industrialized countries are the first sufferers of the kind of pollution,and now many developing countries have joined the ranks.In many cities in the world,pollutants discharged by autos have been No.1 source of pollution in place of industrial pollutants.
Serious though the auto-related pollution is,the positive aspects of autos are much more worthy to deserve their claims.The transition from the carriage age to the auto age is undoubtedly a tremendous step in the long process of human progress.Now our society does not operate a day without motors.Just think what the number of people is who have never used any form of automobile when they need to go out far or transport their goods.It is not doubt that the automobile indeed accelerates communication and transportation.Non-motor vehicles cannot do the job of quickly transporting people and goods from one place to another.Tourists’ being willing to take slow carriages for sight-seeing in ancient towns is just a sign of their tinge of reminiscence in this busy world.In addition,the capacity of transportation an automobile can have far surpasses that of a cart.A lorry,for example,can be loaded with as much as 20 ton of goods.More importantly,the motor industry helps to greatly promote the development of other industries.More iron and steel,for instance,are needed for the manufacture of autos so as to boost the iron and steel industry.With the production and use of autos,economies of many countries have been prospering.And cities are cities.What’s more,luxurious cars have long been symbols of high social positions and career brilliance.Who but a fool would not manage to be in possession of a deluxe car in this modern society?Cars lubricate the gears of our society.All in all,it is safe to say that our society will go paralyzed if we are obliged to stop manufacturing and using automobiles.
It is hard for people to curtail the urge to fancy and own autos because they feel that autos occasion them many benefits.Human beings are able to weigh the positive and negative aspects of the automobile,otherwise they might have long rejected the invention of it.What is to be done is that we must continue to improve the technology of manufacturing environmental friendly and safe automobiles that burn clean energy so as to rid the world of vehicular pollution,noise,and accidents.
