What Caused The Financial Crisis?
I think we can sum up the cause of our current economic crisis in one word — GREED.Over the years, mortgage lenders were happy to lend money to people who couldn’t afford their mortgages. But they did it anyway because there was nothing to lose. These lenders were able to charge higher interest rates and make more money on sub-prime loans. If the borrowers default, they simply seized the house and put it back on the market. On top of that, they were able to pass the risk off to mortgage insurer or package these mortgages as mortgage-backed securities.Easy money!
and what went wrong with our financial system? The whole thing was one big scheme.Everything was great when houses were selling like hot cakes and their values go up every month.Lenders made it easier to borrow money, and the higher demand drove up house values.Higher house values means that lenders could lend out even bigger mortgages, and it also gave lenders some protection against foreclosures. All of this translates into more money for the lenders, insurers, and investors.Unfortunately, many borrowers got slammed when their adjustable mortgage finally adjusted. When too many of them couldn’t afford to make their payments,it causes these lenders to suffer from liquidity issue and to sit on more foreclosures than they could sell.Mortgage-backed securities became more risky and worth less causing investment firms like Lehman Brothers to suffer. Moreover, insurers like AIG who insured these bad mortgages also got in trouble.
The scheme worked well, but it reverses course and is now coming back to hurt everyone with a vengeance.

1---My hobbies
Almost everybody has some kind of hobby. My hobbies are listening to music and watching television.
I am very fond of music. When I am free, I often listen to my favorite songs from an old cassette recorder. At weekends, I usually go to music shops in the downtown areas to buy good CDs. Of the famous pop singers, I prefer Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Madona and Paul MC Cartney.
I also spend an hour after dinner watching news and documentary programmes. I particularly enjoy the program "The World Here and There" because it broadens my knowledge of nature and human civilizations.
I think that my hobbies are very useful. They widen my knowledge, relax my mind, and make me feel better about myself.
2---My hobby is stamp colleting. When I was still only a baby, my mother began to collect for me. Of course, she did not let me touch the stamps until I was old enough not to spoil them. I remember that it was on my fifteenth birthday that she first put them into my hands. They were in four fat books, but since that time I have added three more, so that now I have a bigger collection than any of my friends.
How do I get my stamps? I have never bought a single one from a shop -- so my collection has really cost me nothing. My father, who works in a big office, sometimes brings me home stamps from many countries of the world. And I have friends both here and in other lands who send me stamps in return for ones which I send to them.
Now that I am working for my living, I do not have as much time as before to spend on my stamps. But in the evenings, what can be better than to sit down at a table with my precious books, arranging new stamps in them, writing in the names of countries, or, if I am too tired, only looking through the stamps already in the books? Each stamp has a story to tell me of far countries and strange peoples. I see pictures of men and women, birds and animals that I have never seen. Kings and presidents pass before my eyes, and I can follow the history of nations -- I can see Hitler's Germany spreading over Europe and then suddenly breaking into pieces; Pakistan is born before my eyes; countries rise and countries fall - and the whole time I remain comfortably in my armchair at home.
But my stamp collection does not make me think only of the past. Just as my mother collected for me, so I, too, am collecting for my future child. What better way will there be of interesting him in history, geography and languages, and of making these subjects live for him instead of being only things in school books? If I pass my hobby on to him, he will bless me for it as I have blessed my mother for her wise action.
3---
My hobby
Almost everybody has some kinds of hobby. A hobby can be anything people like to do it in the spare time for enjoyment. It might be collecting stamps or coins or match boxes, reading, various sports, chess, painting, antiques, fishing, growing flowers, drinking or sleeping.
Some hobbies are valuable, while others are worthless, even harmful. Different people have different hobbies. Anyone, rich or poor, old or young, sick or well, can follow a hobby he or she likes.
As for me, I not only like physical sports, but enjoy mental games as well. For instance, I sometimes spend my time on sports: playing tennis or badminton, swimming, skating or climbing mountains. I play badminton fairly well. And I am able to skate very well. However, sometimes I enjoy mental games, such as chess, I-go and painting. Stamp collecting is a rewarding hobby for me. I learn many things, such as the geography and history of a country from stamps. As I wander through the pages of the album, I learn interesting details of foreign customs, art, literature and culture that educate my mind. The animated patterns and pleasing colours are an attraction which make me relaxed and happy. It is always a delight to add a new stamp to my collection, and the more stamps I have, the more interested I am in philately
